Two different essential oils can be extracted from mountain arnica, one from the flowers and the other from the dried rhizomes. Throughout the plant, especially in the flowers and in the rhizome, a highly valued glycoside is present in high doses for its modulating action:arnicina. Arnica compusitum owes a large part of its ingredients to this active ingredient benefits. Phytosterin, gallic acid and tannin can also be extracted from the plant.

Arnica extracts help relieve pain on the one hand and accelerate the healing process on the other. Arnica compositum is not the only natural remedy based on Arnica Montana.

Arnica-based creams and ointments (as well as arnica compositum cream itself) can be applied directly to the painful area. When the pain is intense it is advisable to continue with a first application, massage and absorption, followed by a second abundant application related to bandage (bandage or gauze).
